SOME ELEMENTS NEED A BIG AREA TO UNFOLD

Empty spaces are field of force. In the era, where people believe “Content is King” we are often inclined towards putting down all information we have researched and collected. However, have we ever tried to understand any of the end-user who is consuming the content? Perhaps we should always measure, how much of our content is actually consumed and consumed with ease.

This brings me to the very principle tool in every designer’s toolkit bag, “WHITE SPACE”.

What is White Space?
White Space or Negative Space is referred to the unmarked space in the design composition. It is the space between graphics, texts, columns, images and other elements. To be more specific, white space does not literally mean an empty space with a white background. It is the relaxing area in a page, and create an inviting look that draws in the audience.

Elements of White Space:

· Space around the graphics and images

· Margins and Paddings

· Line Spacing and Letter Spacing

· Space between columns

“It is a designer’s duty to create communication lines between the design and audience and white space can play a significant role in it.”

Why White Space?

To balance the layout

Emphasize objects

Focus on certain content

To make the design look elegant
